The Art Institute of New York City


The Art Institute of New York City offers education in design, fashion and media, and has a program of art and design with a concentration in interior design. Students study lighting, drafting, textiles and space planning to prepare for careers in interior design, space planning, drafting and other design industry jobs. New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies offers a certificate in interior design. The certificate program includes fundamentals, hands-on training, furniture specification and design presentation. Certificate holders have design project capabilities, design fundamentals, an understanding of space planning, furniture layout, materials, finishes, and scale and structure. Coursework consists of eight classes in presentation, industry, basic drafting, sourcing, lighting, studio fundamentals and applied design, and model construction.
