Anatomy and physiology are two fundamental courses of biology. These courses are helpful and necessary when studying human or animal health and wellness. Someone wanting to pursue a career in the health field is usually required to take one or both of these courses.
Anatomy
Anatomy courses focus on parts of the body. Different areas cover human or animal anatomy. In the course you can expect to learn what and where each body part is, as well as its function.
Physiology
A physiology course dives further into the body, be it animal or human, and studies how each part works. The course focuses on small details such as how a nerve receives an impulse from a sensory organ.
Significance
Anatomy and physiology courses may be interesting to learn, but they are also necessary for a student interested in a career in the health field. Nurses, doctors, dentists and chiropractors must master the material if they want to be successful in their field.
Function
Basic collegiate level anatomy and physiology courses cover most of the body systems in a semester or two. Depending on the student's course of study, advanced topics in these courses may be taken as well.
Considerations
Both courses contain a good amount of material to master. The material contains memorization aspects and concept mastery. Both portions of the material should be focused on to succeed in either course.
