Get Summer Internships Abroad

Summer internships are a great way to test the waters abroad without committing to a full year of study. You can "test out" a country to see if you have found a good fit or just take a vacation and study for a few more credits along the way. Use these steps to learn more about summer internship opportunities abroad to find the best match for you.

Instructions

1. Talk to your department adviser if you are already a student at an accredited college or university to find out if they offer summer internships abroad. Get the information around your specific major for the best fit with a company.

2. Research organizations that offer summer internships abroad independently from schools. Companies like Statravel offer internships in seven countries and assist in job placement too.

3. Partner with a civic group or volunteer-run organization for a cause that you support or is associated with your field of study. This is not only a great way to get a summer internship, but also a great way to beef up your resume and gain experience in your field. These internships are often unpaid, but living expenses are paid.

4. Contact a company in your field that you are considering applying to upon graduation and ask to be an intern in one of their international offices. They will be impressed by the willingness to move and learn another culture as well as the initiative to be a part of their team.
