Write An Admission Acceptance Letter

You've been accepted to college or graduate school: congratulations! You've put in the work and you're ready to reap the benefits. Before you begin planning for the classes you'll take, you should accept your offer of admission formally. If you don't accept the offer formally, you may be listed as unresponsive and dropped from the admission rolls. The letter and documents are easy to complete, but they require some due diligence on your part.

Instructions

Forms

1. Read your acceptance letter thoroughly. It will likely contain the information that you need to know to accept the offer formally.

2. Locate all of the forms that you will need to accept your admission offer formally. If the forms are not listed in the admission letter you received, check the university's website. If you can't locate the information online, call the university's registrar to request the information.

3. Fill out all forms completely.

4. Make copies of all forms you fill out before you send them to the university, along with a cover letter.

Letter

5. Address the admission acceptance letter to the appropriate person or department. This will likely be whoever or whatever is listed on the admission letter you received.

6. Begin the letter with a general opening, such "To whom it may concern." If a specific person is listed on your admission letter, you can address your acceptance letter to him or her.

7. Accept the admission offer at the beginning of the body of the letter. It can sound like this: "I am pleased to accept the offer of admission to pursue an undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming."

8. List all of the forms and attachments that you are sending along with your acceptance letter. This includes any and all forms that you are required to send. If you have to send a payment along with your acceptance, indicate that you are including said payment with your letter.

9. End the letter politely and formally. Include your full name and all of your contact information, including telephone number and e-mail address.
