Scholarships For Minorities Wanting To Pursue A Master'S Degree

Scholarships can help students realize their dreams of furthering their education.








Pursuing a master's degree can place a strain on a student's finances. Some students opt to use funds from a loan to cover education-related costs. Minority students pursuing a master's degree who wish to avoid the need to obtain a loan or who want to lower the amount they need to borrow can apply for a scholarship.


GlaxoSmithKline Company Science Achievement Award








The GlaxoSmithKline Company Science Achievement Award is open to African American students who are pursuing a graduate degree at a United Negro College Fund member college or university. Member institutions include Dillard University, Jarvis Christian College and LeMoyne-Owen College. As of the 2010-2011 academic school year, the scholarship awarded $3,000 to select students. Students must meet a 3.0 grade point average and major in science or a related field.


NBMBAA Graduate Scholarship Program


Minority students who are pursuing a master's degree can apply for the National Black MBA Association's (NBMBAA) Graduate Scholarship Program . As of the 2010-2011 school year, recipients could receive up to $15,000. Recipients will also receive membership to the NBMBAA. Students must demonstrate academic excellence and active involvement within the community. If selected, a student must actively participate in the local chapter of the NBMBAA and public relations activities.


Semiconductor Research Corporation Master's Scholarship Program


The Semiconductor Research Corporation Master's Scholarship Program awards select minority students who are pursuing a degree with research relevant to microelectronics. The program the student is enrolled in must be approved by the Global Research Collaboration to be considered. As of the 2010-2011 academic school year, recipients were awarded $2,000 per month. Students must be willing to provide a copy of their master's thesis upon request.


HSF/Nissan North America, Inc. Scholarship Program


The Nissan North America, Inc. Scholarship program is available to graduate students of Hispanic heritage who are pursuing their master's degree. The scholarship is administered through the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is available to students who are concentrating on business or engineering. Students must meet a 3.0 grade point average requirement and have a permanent address in select cities. The cities include San Antonio, Nashville and Chicago.
