College Scholarships & Grants With No Fees

Scholarships and grants can be obtained in a number of ways, however, beware of paid scholarship searches. Information on scholarships and grants is free through your school and a range of scholarship search engines. You are not limited in the amount of scholarships for which you can apply. Seek out scholarships at a varying range of difficulty levels to increase your opportunity to win free aid.








Cappex "A GPA Isn't Everything" Scholarship


Sign up for a profile on Cappex and you could win the "GPA Isn't Everything" Scholarship. The brief application requests your community service and extra-curricular background as well as professional interests. As of 2011, the award amount is $1,000. Once you sign up for a profile, include in your preferences the desire to apply for the Cappex award. Scholarships are given monthly.


Ayn Rand Fountainhead Essay Contest


If you enjoy English, the Ayn Rand Fountainhead Essay Contest may be a good option for you. Winners of the essay contest receive scholarship awards based on ranking. For example, as of 2011, first place winners receive a $10,000 scholarship prize. Second place winners are given awards in the amount of $2,000. No application is necessary for this scholarship. Entrants choose an essay topic from a provided list after reading the novel entitled "Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand.


Wal Mart Community Scholarship








WalMart offers a community scholarship for students with significant financial need. You must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale to apply for this award. As of 2011, the Sam Walton Community Scholarship is $3,000 for one academic year. If you have not taken the SAT or ACT, you are ineligible for this award. Documentation of financial need may be requested if you are selected as a winner.


Dell Scholars Program


Dell provides computers, school supplies and scholarship awards to students who demonstrate a commitment to excel. The Dell Scholars Program recognizes average students who show academic promise based on their determination to succeed in the face of a challenge. You must have a minimum 2.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale to apply. Selection is based on your level of financial need and an essay response to your commitment to success. As of 2011, Dell Scholars receive $20,000 to finish their college degree within six years.
