Canadian Art Scholarships

Canada has many scholarships to help aspiring artists.

A wide variety of scholarships helps to fund the study of the arts at universities and colleges across Canada. Awards can be put toward tuition and sometimes living expenses and special study programs in a variety of disciplines, from drama to painting, helping talented students to pursue their passions.

Brucebo Fine Art Scholarship

The Brucebo Fine Art Scholarship sends artists to Sweden.

The Embassy of Sweden in Canada sponsors the Brucebo Art Scholarship to help talented painters study overseas. Aimed at emerging Canadian artists under the age of 40, the scholarship provides an "inspiring study and work stay in northern Europe on the island of Gotland located in the middle of the crisp waters of the Baltic Sea," according to the embassy web site. The scholarship covers the cost of transportation to Sweden, art supplies and cottage rental, and also provides a living stipend for three months. The award is valued at 25,000 Swedish Kroner and is administered by McGill University.
