Your resume should highlight your strengths and accomplishments.
Your school resume will help to highlight your academic and extracurricular accomplishments. If you are using the resume to gain acceptance into a college then you will be competing for a spot in their freshman class. In order to stand out from the rest of the applicants you can use your resume to make a statement.
Instructions
1. List your academic honors. Write down everything you have accomplished academically since the ninth grade. If you accomplished something extra special in grade school or middle school, it would be wise to add it in this section. Academic honors may include such things as honor roll recognition, essay writing awards and science competitions,
2. Write down all of your extracurricular activities. This category can include clubs that you belong to, sports, class offices you have held, band, yearbook or any other nonacademic activity. Include all nonschool activities such as hobbies or service positions that will help make your resume unique.
3. Arrange your list in chronological order by category. The top of the document should have your name followed by the heading "Achievement Summary." The categories should be titled "Academic" and "Extracurricular." Further categorize your resume into time periods such as middle school and high school if applicable.
4. Create your school resume. Use a word processing program and type out your resume, making sure that it is appropriately formatted. Be sure to include your name, phone number and email address near the top of the document. Always spell check your work and proofread what you've written.
