Clogged garbage disposals are a common problem. Fortunately, you don't need to call a plumber to unclog your Badger 1 garbage disposal. In a few simple steps and minimal tools, you can have it unclogged and running like new. Plan on taking twenty minutes to complete this task.
Instructions
1. Turn power to the disposer off at the wall switch and at the fuse box.
2. Insert the wrenchette or quarter-inch Allen wrench into the six-pointed socket on the bottom of the disposer. Turn the wrench back and forth until it turns freely. Turn the wrench one full revolution.
3. Reach into the disposer and clean out any material using kitchen tongs or a pair of pliers.
4. Turn the power back on, first at the fuse box and then at the wall switch. If the disposer fails to start, reset the overload switch by pushing the red button on the bottom of the disposer.
5. Run water down the disposer to test. If the disposer still fails to drain, the problem isn't with the disposer, but a clogged trap downstream.
